On my 2007 RX400h, an open moon roof results in a ding when opening the driver's door (with key out of ignition). An open window does not.
Ah ... I should have read the title first. It makes sense now ,,,, when you open door, with the key out of ignition, the assumption RX makes, you are about to leave and have left the moon roof open accidentally.
The other time you get the polite ding is if the door is open and the wheels are turning.
Thank you for posting the solution regarding the moon roof being opened. Apparently I used my key to open the windows last week and forgot that it also adjusts the moon roof. When I closed it, the beep stopped!
You can use the key to make sure everything is shut by inserting it into the driver door and turning to the left and holding. The sun roof and windows will close and the doors will lock. Go right and everything opens. Comes in handy sometimes.

On our 2007 RX400h, holding down the unlock button on the remote will also open windows and sunroof. Unfortunately, we can't close everything with the remote because a single button is used for both lock and panic (and we didn't have the dealer disable panic).

Yup, same here with the 450h. I love the feature.
Using the key is the next best alternative IMO to close everything up. Sometimes I miss the sunroof and don't want to hop back in to turn on to accessories just to shut the damn thing. Now the 3rd gen has two sets of buttons for the sunroof - one to slide open/close, the other to go up/ down. They're located on opposite sides of the dome. Inevitably I select the wrong one anyway. So I use the fob key. Then there are the times I have to open the windows a little after washing so I can get under the JDM visors. After I'm done, I go back to the driver door and close everything up. It beats getting in and out of the car especially with wet clothes and shoes.
