When it's at it's lowest (if it wasn't already) select N or H.
At this point you can start your diagnosis.
If there has been a number of failed attempts, the ECU may put it into a freeze and the pump won't run. I found if you start the car then stop it repeatedly for 5 (I think it's 5. It was a while ago) it resets the ECU, and the pump will run.
Things that cause it to fail. Blown pump fuse. Faulty solinoid. Faulty pump.
With the solinoid and pump you can (I did) short the solenoid connections. (Be careful as it has a lot of juice)
So what causes the ECU to stop running the pump: (The ECU is located under the right hand dash)
One of the height sensors being faulty. Indicated by one of the corners not raising. These sensors are around £120/160 but are easily repared if you prefer to do so.
I can run you through how to do this.
I have one side not lifting up. Rear right side is not lifting at all. Both back struts are new (not second hand). I've had them on for 6 months now, but today i noticed my rear right side is on the ground. If i put the car on hi pump kicks in and tops the other 3 sides and if I put it to low it goes to Low.and then it goes to N when I put it. But the rear right one doesn't move at all. I'm thinking it might be a height sensor. Can you give me some advise how to try to repair it?
Thanks

Hi there.

First thing to do is check the small arm connecting the sensor and the chassis isn’t broken.
Also remake the electrical connector.
If all looks ok then remove the sensor from the vehicle.
To test the sensor you will need a multimeter.
Set it to Ohms. Put the negative cable to the middle prong and the positive cable to either of the outer prongs.
You will need to check both outer prongs.
Now move the arm on the sensor.
The resistance should increase and decrease as you move the arm.
The exact resistance is irrelevant.

If either one doesn’t produce a change in resistance then your sensor is faulty.

Before you go buying a new one.
Open it carefully as there’s 3 tiny gold springs inside. The ends of these are prone to corrosion. Give them a gentle rub on both ends with light sandpaper.
I also clean the little scraper prongs.
Also clean the tracks using a spirit.

Now test again.
Good luck.

An update, today I had time to go under the car finally. I was so detirmined to do as you told me, but to my surprise when I went under I noticed the metal rod that should be connected to the sensor was broken. So its quite clear that I will need to replace it.
Thank you for your support, I will definetely remember it if it happens again.

Don’t don’t don't buy one from Lexus. I think they charge around £160
They will only sell you the full setup, sensor and all. Not the bar.
Before you remove the broken one, if you haven't already, measure the distance between the 2 nuts that secure the bar. You can use this to setup the knew one.
You can also get this size from the other side.
You can get the bar and the ball ends from Ebay. Works out about £10. Sorry I can't remember the bar's diameter. From memory I think M6 or 8
When you order make sure both ends are opposite threads. Left and right.
