Default Extra Wide Armrests

I know this topic was discussed some months ago and was just wondering if anyone has tried them. I must admit, the narrow arm rests are somewhat uncomfortable when driving for an extended period.

I don't think it wouold look very good to install just one on the driver's side and noticed that they are having a sale for a pair. Has anyone else tried these?

I think if you check the ad, it says only for driver's side seat.

Default Wide Arm Rest

I bought one for my 2007 RX the first month I had it. 4 years later its still great to have. But it does lean a little to the right.

I have had one in my car since they came on the market and I love it (in fact, the photo of the installed armrest is my car - as an early purchaser, Jim had some questions for me). Anyway, it is easy to install (although you will need a socket set with an extension long enough to reach through the armrest to the original bolt hole - which is a pretty standard tool) but it is far more comfortable than the original, which is far too thin. Highly recommended.

Thanks for the feedback. I have socket sets with extension bars, so I think I'll
give them a try. Did you guys hold on to the old armrests or sell them (if so, what did you get for them)?

If you do this, post back with the DIY (maybe some pictures).

I saw on ebay or another site that was selling these that the double wide one could not be used with the center console? In the pic it's actually not there lol!

So anyone know?

Looks like you would need to fold both armrests up in order to get access to the console storage. Notice it says "They do not compromise drink holder tray usage".

But, it seems you would not need to remove the console, it would just be a little awkward to access the storage area.

Tru dat. (I am so loaded with street cred!)
You have to lift the wide armrest (only) in order to get into the center console; I consider that a fair trade for the added comfort, especially on longer trips when you use the armrest all the time but not the console.
It does not impact access to or use of the cup holder area in front of the console. I think the wide armrest is the same length as the standard one.
I still have my original one, as I did not think there would be much of a market for it and, should I sell my car I would probably swap them back, as the wide one could be sold far more readily than a standard one.
I have a few friends who have an RX and when I drive or even ride in their cars, I miss having the wide armrest.

Sorry to highjack this thread. My original arm rest has always pointed downward. Is there an adjustment for this? I like to have it level instead of pointing -45 degree.

I won't be dismantling anything until the new armrests arrive, but you could try loosening the bolts, leveling the armrest, then retightening the bolt(s).
