Default Engine Check Light/VSC on/Code P0355

Hi-

I have 07 RX350 with 75k miles. We bought this car 3 months ago and it is our first Lexus. Car was working great until engine light check came on with VSC.

I have checked gas cap and it is tight. I went to Autozone and scanner shows code P0355 Primary/Secondary E Coil. Car is running fine but some time feels some jerkiness.

My question is what else can I do beside taking it to a dealer? called local mechanic and he told me that coil is in the back and labor would be worth replacing 3 coils. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Is this something I can change? I am no pro but can do many things around the house

Thanks again for your time and help!!!

Not sure about the coils but all those lights are related. In my SC the 02 sensor went out and I had all those lights come on too. I'd do a search, maybe there's a DIY on here somewhere.

If this vehicle is a Lexus Certified Pre-Owned it would be covered under the CPO warranty. There was also a recent posting about changing the coil with photos. Do a search.

I don't have any warranty. Bought car from private seller who was the original owner of the car.

I did search and found DIY wrote by "lexmex" on spark plugs on Rx300s. Is that what you are talking about?

I looked and was not able to find rear coil/plug. Does anyone know if they are in the same place as Rx300? Mine is RX350 AWD.

The code is still coming back. I removed the battery as suggested in another thread and connected after one hour. The light went away and came back after 2 days. Also light some time is blinking and then become steady. When light come on or blinking car seems rough.

I have done replacing rear spark plugs. I don't know the numbers order for cylinders, but rear is a pain. The easiest one is on driver side, the hardness in the middle, to remove this one you will need remove passenger side (don't forget to remove engine breather hose, it will get to you a lot free space). Of course you will need to remove wiper blades arms, motor and tray itself.
If you have question send me PM and I can explain better on phone, but you and me need to stand at front of the our cars, in the order to get all picture.

Good website:
http://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/

According this it's a cylinder 5. But before replacing check all emission and fuel prep hoses, make sure everything connected and no teared hoses.

Was looking for a more recent thread but was unable to find one, so I'll resurrect this...

I am having the same problem with my 2007 RX350 right now. Would really like to know what you ended up doing, and how difficult it was to get to coil # 5. Also, did you end up replacing all 3 since you were back there? Did you change the plugs or check the plug gaps first?

Regarding the above, I spoke to Lexus today, and they said that they cover the coils as part of the emissions system and not the drivetrain, therefore, the Cert.PreOwned warranty (which I have) expires at 7 years or 70,000 miles.

I'd really like to understand what people have done and what the best course of action is.

Thanks

The number 5 coil pack is all you should replace...The plugs should be fine. They are generally in excellent shape even at the 120k miles change....

Do the wiper blade arms, motor, and tray need removed to get to driver side ignition coil # 5?

I searched and searched but found no pictures in any forums related to getting to # 5 spark plug / ignition coil. Any pics, or link if I missed it, would be helpful.

Anyone still out there on this?
