Default key question

Hey guys, my wife just picked up an 08 rx350 and we bought an aftermarket remote starter/alarm. my question is will it mess anything up if i use the key without a battery in it? the reason being is we don't wanto to accidentally set the factory alarm and aftermarket(which we've already did). I don't need any buttons on the key because the new remote has it all. I know the keys have chips now but i tried it without a battery and it seemed fine, but i'm just worried it may cause a problem. Sorry if this is a lame question

You should be fine. The battery is just for the remote part of the key, not the immobilizer. It's 2 different circuits in the key I believe.
