Default Headlight lens fogging

is there any protective films/covers that can be applied to headlight lens to delay lens scratching/fogging? It seems to me a static attached clear film (like you'd apply to your iPod screen or Blackberry screen) would be available?
thanks

Good question. I know there's a film out there just for the HL lens. The issue is the UV. The lens itself is UV coated to minimize damage due to UV. However after sometime, the coating wears off afterwhich the degradations starts. Yellowing, dulling, etc.

The plastic which is used, PC, Polycarbonate has additives for UV protection, too. Depending on who makes them, will dictate how they wear out. All about the cost and return on investment.

The restoration process, meaning the polishing which nowadays are so common restores the clarity but does not protect for UV damage. You will have to polish often to see the same result. I am looking for an applied on UV protection (much like leather cleaners with UV protection) to help prolong the life-clarity of the lens.

i have found that if you clean them real good with a cleaner for that purpose (sold @ Auto-Zone etc) then keep a coat of wax, spray wax etc on them.they will stay nice. or if you have access to a buffer, they come out great. must use a low speed though.

I've seen many have clear coat applied to the headlights so no dulling/yellowing occurs.

Keep your head lights clean and use zaino z-cs on the lens (also good for your car's paint). Its a great product. I use it on my wife's RX350 and my BMW 335
