Default outside mirror unglued itself

So basically it was just hanging there by the wires. The mirror glass is now in the garage waiting to be reinstalled. Thankfully, nothing got damaged. Does anyone know what kind of glue is used between the two mating surfaces? It looks like a thermal paste that's used in electronics.

I have no idea how this happened. I washed the car this week by hand and then there was a heavy rain yesterday, nothing out of the ordinary...

If it's still under the four year bumper to bumper warranty, have Lexus fix it.

Why deal with the dealer when you can do it yourself? It's just a matter of putting some glue on it and connecting everything back together.

Not everything is a simple DIY. These mirrors are subject to long term vibration. It is entirely possible that Lexus would require a special adhesive for this job. If you proceed to repair it yourself and it fails, the evidence that you messed with it will be there for all to see. You could then have issues with the warranty repair being denied. Let Lexus fix this.

^^Agree with the above. We mold the brackets for side mirrors and the plastic used for these are special that it contains anti-vibration components. The side mirrors rating on use is quite high. Imagine the wind force and vibration it has to go through.
