I had new Michelin tires mounted,balanced and installed on my 2007 RX-350 but,I still have a frontend vibration at 52 and 57 mph. The Lexus mechanic says I need to turn the front rotors but,I don't think this is the answer to my vibration issue because I have no vibration when brakes are applied.Does anyone have any suggestions?.

 

if you mechanic is suggesting that, i would go elsewhere, at least to a tire shop and have the tires rebalanced. perhaps the tech used the wrong settings on the balancer.

another suggestion would be to find a shop that has a road force balancer made by Hunter. these are neat machines (about 22,000 bucks worth). if the problem lies within the rim and tires, they will find the issue.

still sounds like a tire balance issue to me

 

Go to a Michelin tire dealer and have them check it out. Could be a bad tire. Switch the fronts to the back and see if it goes away. Did you have any vibrations before?

 

Rotors are not going to cause this problem. Warped rotors will only vibrate when brakes are being applied. Have the tires balanced and inspected. Sometime those balance weights fly off when driving. I had it happen once and had this problem.

 

Was this done in a Lexus dealer?

If yes, shame on that dealer.

They did not balance corectly.

 

I have also experienced this vibration issue on my 2007 RX 350. It only occurs on the highway and it seems to be pretty random. When it occurs I have to pull off the highway and turn the car off and then continue. I took the car to the dealer several times (Westminster) and I too have replaced the tires with new Michelins which have been balanced at two separate shops, most recently Big O tires. I even had a private mechanic check it to see if he could identify the solution to the problem. This is very annoying and sometimes outright frightening, especially for my wife who shuttles the kids around in this vehicle. This has been going on with this car for about a year, I am not sure how much I have spent trying to correct the problem, but I am sure that I am at the point where I am considering getting rid of the car.

 

Has it always happened? How many miles on the car. Did it start after new tires? Have the wheels been torqued to 76 pounds or hammered on with an air drill?

 

The vibration started to occur about a year ago and has been present ever since, although as I said it is pretty random when it occurs. It was happening prior to my replacing the tires, in fact the existing tires only had 40,000 miles, I replaced them with a new set on the advice of the dealer. But the problem has continued. The car only has a little over 50,000 miles.

 

Have your front end checked out real good. Lower control arm bushings can cause odd things to happen too if their worn. And as already mentioned, re torque the wheels evenly and do not over tighten.

 

Have the same issue with our 2007 RX350.

No vibration below 45 mph. Steady, very regular vibration above 45 that seem in proportion to speed frequency wise.

No unusual noises from the front end.

Vibration is felt primarily through the floor and accelerator pedal, not the steering wheel.

No change in sound or vibration if you swerve left and right.

Just replaced tires with new Goodyears. Same problem.
Taking it in tomorrow to have the tires road force balanced but the tire place tells me that they don't think that its a balance issue.

 

Bushings. Plenty of info on this here. Look at my DIY thread and you'll see pics of bad bushings then go look under your car to see if your look the same.

 

I have the same situation. $1,000 worth of the best Goodyear's same issue.

Brand new brakes. Same problem.

Rotated and balanced. Same problem.

It seems as though the vibration gets worse after jumping on the accelerator. Anyone else seeing the same? Anyone know what the issue is? Almost like a drive shaft or universal joint issue.
