Air filter - broken bolts
#31
I would expect some leeway over a $5.00 bolt but I am sorry, what you had happen has nothing to do with a warranty. You had an accident, Lexus was in no way responsible for the a/c part failing. They had no reason to cover your repair and am surprised you got it no charge. Hell I would have been happy with the 20% off.

OP, same thing happened to me. My bolt broke due to rust or overtightened by previous owner on my 07 rx350
How did you fix the problem? Did you happen to find a replacement bolt and metal spacer from lexus?
BTW, the metal spacer comes out fairly easily if you put a screwdriver tip on it and hammer it out..

Easy fix
Little did I know, the bolts are supposed to be "loosened" but they broke in half when I tried to do this on my 2007 RX 350. Therefore, after I put the new air filter in the case does not close all the way.
Has anybody done this before? Will Lexus charge an arm and a leg to secure the case tightly?

I just fixed mine for $1 with a genuine part from Lexus
if you look at the bottom box where the bolt broke off you’ll see it screwed into a metal block if you push down on the metal block it will come out the bottom When I did that there was a tail of the bolt left and I was able to “ un-screw it”
I actuall all went to a Toyota dealership and as soon as they saw the part they knew what it was they sold me one for a buck
i just pushed the net block back in from the bottom(the raised tip should be pointed up) snapped the new bolt in place and everything was good Much better than the $500 dollars quoted ”

These and some M5-15 washers will do the trick! Or if you find some to drill a hole into a coin the size of a nickel, that will work, too. #TrialandError
