Default Adaptable headlight sensor

My boss has a problem with her 2nd gen RX400h, the adaptabble headlight sensor went bad. Local dealers gave her 700-900 estimates

Is there a cheaper solution with this, how much does this sensor cost by itself, and is there an aftermarket sensor out there?

can't believe that nobody has responded to this. Is this problem so rare, or I have not described it clearly?

sounds rare to me,

that part would only be available through the dealer ONLY.

so the only way to make it cheaper is on the labour side. take it to a cheaper shop, or better yet, do it yourself.

when you buy the sensor, the parts catalog will show where it goes,

hope for the best i guess

Are they talking about the sensor connected to the rear axle/suspension? That think looks like it should cost about $40. Looks like it anyway. Have a look on the passenger side of the rear toward the middle of the car from the muffler. You'll see a plastic case with an electrical connector and a metal rod connected to the suspension pieces. The sensor I'm talking about is used for headlight levelling, not the headlight swivelling (I think).

Look here http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums...howtopic=41386

Is this the part they are talking about? Looks like someone had it done at the dealer for about $400.

I'm confused as well. Are you talking about AFS or the auto leveling with the HID's?

Sounds like he's talking about the AFS. Adaptive Headlights.

Could she just get some used headlights w/ AFS off Ebay??
