Headlight Washers Stuck Open
I searched but saw nothing...
It's been FREAKISHLY cold down here the last couple of mornings, and our cars are parked in a car port w/o heat. Yesterday and today my wife's '06 RX 330's headlight washers have been stuck open. Yesterday it was about 1.5", today about 0.5".
I tried pushing them down gently, but didn't want to force them. Yesterday they were still up when my wife got to work, but were back in place by the time she left. I bet the same will happen today.
I suspect that the fluid in the lines is freezing, which causes it to expand and push the washers up, but I wanted to check with y'all to see if there's another potential (even non-cold-related) reason for this.
Thanks!

I never used mine,do they even do anything? But to answer your question,I think you nailed it: "I suspect that the fluid in the lines is freezing, which causes it to expand and push the washers up".
Or,it`s malfunctioning.

No, I don't play soccer!
Not sure what's going on but I'd recommend not using the windshield washers when the headlights are on so the little headlight washers don't pop up. Or you can turn the headlights off and use the windshield wash.

As for the headlamp washers stuck out, I am not sure I have ever heard of the problem. But then again, nothing I hear surprizes me anymore!

Anita,
so are you saying they work both ways?
1.with their own switch & 2. with the main windshield washers level? I did not know that, I thought they only operated with their own independent switch.

Yes, the headlight washers should work both ways - using the switch by the shifter or through the windshield wash but only if the headlights are on.

The headlight washers work both ways but not every time you use the windshield washers, it seems to me I read that is is only the first time and every 5th or so time after that when on the same trip and the headlights are on. You should get some of the washer fluid that is good to -32F for the winter time. I had my wipers freeze to the windshield while driving over Donner summit on my old RX300 when i didn't have the -32 washer fluid in the washer tank.

Either way, the button behind the shifter and the windshield washer ONLY work when the headlights are on. Even the dedicated button doesnt work if the headlights are not on.
Im not sure if it is related to the 5th time you use the windshield washer when the headlights are on. I was under the impression that it will always wash the headlights if the headlights are on and you activate it through the windshield washer, that is unless you just did it.

Mine started acting erratically on the 2005RX. Completely random, or so it seemed.
It's a dedicated fuse. Pulled the fuse. Problem gone. Nothing else affected.
They don't do much so no great loss.
