Need some input on the used RX
Hey guys!
My wife and I need a bigger car for our baby and we thought that RX would be nice. Is there anything that we should know about 2nd gen. RX (RX330 and RX350)?
I have had my IS300 for 8 years and I have never had any problems, and I am hoping that RX is well made too.
Thank you guys!

I've had my RX400h since 06 and just had a baby too. I've had no problems with the RXh. The only modification I felt was "needed" was Eibach drop springs. At normal height, the car would lean alot. And with the soft suspension, I needed to slow down alot to get minimal body roll. After the drop, I love it!

Theyve got some electrical gremlins, but those seem to work themselves out in the first few years. Get one with some remainder of the warranty left so you can have any issues you find fixed.

There are no real common or major issues with the 2nd gen RX. Just find one that has been well maintained. The RX really isn't too much bigger than the IS, unless you mean taller. It saves on your back. A full size stroller fits fine, 2 strollers are a tight fit.

IN short, do an extended test.
Pull service history as a brand/make/model only give an indication and one machine can be different from another.
Since you own a Lexus, you know the maintenance costs are high and repairs can be very costly [hopefully there are none]. This includes cost of parts and labor charge.
Last of all make sure you get all the keys. If you get only one master key and you loose it, it will be very expensive loss.
Dont forget to check out competition. There are many options available. Ride/handling changes can be expensive and may go against you when you want to sell [If is is a keeper, then who cares].
Also look for all the factory options that you desire. Retrofitting can be very expensive [Better to pay the reduced premium at time of purchase]

No, I don't play soccer!
I would also consider the 350 over the 330 since it has a little more power. And you'll find them under warranty like Arbitrage1 said. I have an extended warranty good for another year so I can't comment on life after the warranty. Good luck with your search. The RX is a solid car.

I bought the 2005 RX330 new and it now has 47k miles. The only problem has been the transmission lagging downshift from a rolling start, but there was a TSB out that adds a shift enhancement that fixed it. I test drove a 350 while my 330 was serviced and found the extra power and shifting was much improved over the 330. I'd recommend you skip the 330 and get a 350. Good luck.

I have an 08 RX350 and love it. It had a dash vibration rattle but what ever it was worked it's self out and is gone. Two things that are negative is that the RX does not have as large a cargo area as I would like ( I carry a large dog crate for a lab and I have to fold down one of the back seats which is no biggee) and there is no fog light indicator dash light. The 08 has plenty of power and gets really good gas milage. I average 26-27 mpg highway. Would I replace this vehicle with another RX, you bet.

we traded our 04 GX470 and got 06 RX400h and we are glad we did. we noticed huge difference in cabin space it's more spacious and roomier than GX. and gas saving is also plus for us. we just had baby girl so can't really comment on cargo space but it seems roomy enough for everyday use. going from is300 to rx, you will definately love the cargo and cabin space especially in the rear. and as far as getting a loaner from service department, your gonna be getting newer 350s with new body so i don't think it's worth it. happy shopping oyabong

Thank you. =)
Actually we are keeping the IS and trading her G35 (coupe). We got the deal on used 2007 RX 350 with 27k miles for $25000 out the door. We are going to pick it up tomorrow.

It looks like you got a great RX with very low miles for a heck of a price. I purchased an 04 RX 330 from a private owner last may with 59k miles for $17,200.00. The original window sticker had a price of $45,200.00. I just love the vehicle. I hope you and your family enjoy your new RX. Mike
