Default Changing your battery

I had to change the battery in my RX and 1st of all DONT take your car to Lexus to get it changed. They will try and screw you for about 220 dllrs to change it. I bought a battery and changed it, upon changing it I had to reset the power windows. Apperrantly when you disconnect the battery all the window buttons have to be reset, so each window has to be reset by its own button on each door, just roll the window all the way down then alll the way up and hold the button up for about 5 sec. each window must be cycled through and your back in business.

Do take your car to the dealer if the battery is covered under warranty.

Oh well, expensive lesson learned. 84 month warranty means all 2nd gens are covered for now. Mine was replaced by the dealer at four years, no charge.

If you have a reasonable justification to have the battery replaced at a non-dealer location, you can talk to your service advisor. But do it sooner than later.

Considering all the hassle of resetting everything, why doesn't everyone run a 12V supply to their cigarette lighter while you swap out the battery? Seems like an easy step.

I haven't had to change the battery in my 08 yet but I have used the portable jump starter with the 12v to 12v adapter on both of my Hondas, just plug in and leave key on acc and be careful with the battery leads when you remove them. I put an old leather glove over the pos cable to keep it from going to ground.
