Default 2006 Rx 330 Key/Remote replacment question

I bought 2006 Lexus RX 330, it came with Valet key only from the place where I bought it. They bought it from Lexus Auction. That means the previous owners were Lexus themselves. The car has 36K miles and still under warrenty. If I take my car to a local Lexus dealership will they help me get a new key with remote under warrenty since they were the previous owner and they lost the keys? Thanks in advance.

I would be very surprised if they did anything for you. they may have owned before, but chances are it was a lease return.

Lost keys are not a warranty item.

Good luck

I recently asked about the pricing of the keys at my Lexus dealership. They quoted $280 for the Master and $220 for the valet key. What a deal.

I also need 1. $100 will get you one between ebay and a locksmith. There's been quite a few posts for this.

I have one for sale at $60. If you need it cut, add $15.

Thanks for all who replied. I guess I have to get one from ebay and get the dealer to cut & reprogram it.
Again Thanks everyone.

I'd be very surprised if they do this for you. I mean, if you supply your own key and ask them to cut and program it.

One problem I see is that you have a valet key. Usually you need a master key to reprogram another remote key. I don't know if a valet key would work?

I did just that, bought blank master keys from ebay $49each and then
took into the dealer to have them cut for $45 for 2 and no charge on programing

Dealers in my area refused to do it and were forcing me to buy a key from them. I ended up doing the ebay purchase and going to an indy car locksmith to have a key cut and programmed. I guess, you can try that as suggested but I would also be aware of a car locksmith in the area to fall back on.

I got my sales guy asked the tech instead of me asking myself. Which makes the whole
thing a lot easier. I suggest you talk to your sales guy first, let him be the one asking service dept for the favor unless you already know the service desk personnel very well
and they are willing to do stuff for you

there are no locksmiths or dealers in my area willing to do this (warner robins, GA) with an ebay key. Mandyfig, you know of any in your area of GA?
