I have a 2008 RX-350 with the Gen 5 Nav system. I got the dealer to update the nav dvd to 8.1. Originally it had 5.1 I think. Either way I can't figure out how to get it to tell me to turn left/right on (road name). It just tells you to turn left/right unless it's a major Freeway. Is this the way it is? I had a Garmin and it told you what road to turn on which is/was nice.

I think it's a difference between a Garmin and what is in your car. Our garmin does what you said, "turn left on Alpine Road" etc. Our 09 with Gen5 just says, "in 5 tenths of a mile, right turn". etc. I've never really paid close attention but I think it does call out major intersate roads by name where there are exits.
