Default Trailer Wiring - Switching the Junction Block

I have a RX330 without the towing option. I just bought a Lexus hitch, and I should have no problem mounting the hitch and installing the wiring (with the help of other posts). I keep reading that you need to install a new Junction Block (Part #82670-0E040) for the lights to work correctly. Is this true? Is there any other way around this? Has anyone done this that would be able to help?

Thanks!

Thanks for the reply. How does the plug and play harness work without the Tow Option package? Is there a place to plug the wiring in even without the package?

I just got the wiring off of eTrailer. I may be a little over my head installing myself. Is it easier than it looks? Any tips?

My 2006 RX400h didn't have a tow package. I pulled a Lexus hitch from a RX350, which came with the wiring harness. Installed it and plugged it up and everything works, at least I think so. I put on the hazard lights and the trailer lights blinked. Didn't test brake lights. What kind of lighting problems are you guys having?

No real issue just confused if Im adding the Lexus Brand Low package if the Lexus OEM Junction Block Assembly No.1 Part Number 82670-0E040 is required. And where does it go and what does it do?

MRKilroyNot having any issues yet, went to order the tow package and found out that I "may" need some converter box to enable towing on my 05 rx330 other than the tow kit that comes witht eh 4 flat plug that connects under the cargo tray.
the part I dont know if i need is here:

I have the none towing pkg rx and when i hooked everything up it didn't work due to i was missing a module to convert the voltage for the trailer lights.Bretzky it's really easy not hard at all just a tip i ended up cutting a 1" maybe a little less in the storage compartment. The reason i did that was when im not towing anything i just pull it from there and no wires are hanging very neat TRUST ME it works!!

well, I decided to call LExus Corp and see what they had to say.
I gave the very nice guy on the phone my VIN number and he verified my information and stuff and asked what he could do for me.
I told him that i "lost" my origional window sticker and wanted to know the "options" that were on my vehicle from the factory.
He said no problem and started from the top. HH, Bla bla bla, then "TO" i asked what that was and he said its the upgraded altinator, trans cooler and high cap radiator. I said cool. can you email me or fax me that list of options so i can have a copy of it, and he was able to fax it to me. So it looks like I'm all set to install the tow package with no electrical issues !! Thanks for the help guys !!

I still need to know where the junction box assembly is installed. Anyone know? I called Lexus corp, gave them my VIN, and my 2005 RX 330 does not have the tow prep package.

I ended up switching out the junction box. It's a pain but the lights wont work with the current box. its a much cleaner look than a generic wiring harness.

Directions to install came with it. It was annoying to do, you pretty much have to take apart your trunk, but if I can do it I think anyone can. Sewell Lexus has pretty good prices for a dealership, but still not cheap..
