Help a lady out with service needs
My 04 RX 330 pearl white with dove gray interior is going to be 6 years old on July 1st. Have a question on service. I have very low mileage, will have approx 45k on the vehicle in July. Have always had my service at the dealer including oil changes. Have the oil changed every 6 months regardless of how many miles i've driven. What should I have done on this service? I have always tried to balance the service needs between the recommended "mileage" and "time". My dealer (Sewell in Dallas) is pretty good about helping me balance but does tend to offer more than needed. I will do what is needed but don't want to over spend on something that isn't reasonable.
I plan on keeping this beauty for some time. I know several things just wear with time such as belts and hoses.
Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Well belts/hoses are always safe bets to keep her running strong. Would think of tires/battery(if you still have the originals) down the line. The fluid changes are always good as well. Spark plugs and wires. these are just things in general to prolong the life and keep her running well. How many miles on the RX?
Will have only about 45k by then. Right now standing at 43,400. Had new tires last year but that is the only replacement. Have had noproblems with anything except the back hatch opener last year which the dealer took care of without problem.
Ok,, may want to have battery checked(if still original). Most battery lifetimes are about 4-5 years; if yours is still good dont worry about it. Fluids changed, drive belts (if still original) inspected, and you should be good to go. You will not be far from you 60K recommended service in which you can follow what the manufacturer suggests. Your 60K service will address alot of the things I have suggested before (belts, hoses, spark plugs, wires, tune up etc.) Seems like you are keeping up very well on the fluid maintenance, so you should not have too many things to address until you 60K service is due. I own an LS, not an RX so I am sure others will chime in with information which should be alot more valuable. The things I listed are pretty much from a general standpoint; regardless of what car you own.
You are "overspending", if you continue to use Lexus dealerships for routine maintenance. Many on this forum including me, use the local Toyota dealer for for this. You will save up to half by doing that. I only go to the Lexus dealership for warranty issues.
Find a good independent that specializes in Toyota/Lexus; you will save a lot of money and get quality service. For example, on the 60K service for our 04 RX330; the Lexus dealer was $850, Toyota dealer was $625 and the independent was $425. The independent I go to uses Toyota OEM parts and were former techs at the dealership.

Batteries in newer cars will often die without advance warning, which could leave you stranded in an inconvenient location. (This happened to me in my SC, but fortunately it was in my garage at the time.) Since batteries die over time rather than miles, I would suggest that you replace the six year old battery now, rather than wait for it to fail on you somewhere.
I have an '04, (with about 50,000 miles) and replaced the battery last fall. It's not very expensive, and can be done very quickly. I bought the new battery from the dealer (parts department) and made the replacement myself, then returned the old one to the dealer for some kind of a refund, which keeps them out of the landfills.
Other than that, I think you are doing the right things to keep the car going for a long, long time. With attention, there is no reason why these cars will not last for 150,000 miles or more.
