Default Engine Ticking?

Not sure if this is a common problem.

Last summer I test drove two 04 RXs from a dealership. Both had about 80,000KM or 50,000 miles. From the outside I couldn't hear anything but while driving, I could hear a ticking sound. I'm not a mechanic but maybe the lifters or something.

So I ended up purchasing a 04 out of WI with 36,000 miles. What I liked was the fact that it didn't have the ticking noise. Well, now at 40,000 miles, there is a ticking noise from the engine.

I changed the oil and used synthetic thinking it would help.

Is this ticking common?
Should I put something in the gas to help?
Should I bring it into the shop?

No other issues except the ticking.

TIA for any advice or suggestions.

I've been told that it's the injectors and not to be concerned. If it's an 04' then it's probably out of warranty. If it's not, I think there's a TRO to fix it. I was also told that they run better if you don't fix it.

Thanks - your right about the warranty. Car drives fine so I think it's just stay that way until I feel there is an issue.

Maybe try better gas or some additives.

I don't believe that gas or additives will make a difference.

It's just embarrassing to know that everyone else in the car hears it too. Most don't say anything, but think of it as a dependability issue.
