Engine noise???

Does anyone other than myself notice an Engine noise that sounds like a rattle from the driverside of the car? I have a 2001 with aprrox 25k miles. It seems like it is coming from the manifold heat shield or in that area. The noise only happens on or around 3000 RPM and above, in any gear, at any speed, and at any engine temp. I have taken my car into the dealer twice now and both times they say they cannot find anything wrong. Except the last time into the service dept, the told me they test drove 3 NEW IS's and they get the same noise!??? Go figure...
Does anyone have a clue about what I'm describing?
Any help would be great

i know exactly what u are describing...

it's that friggin rattling from the engine bay, that u can only hear at exaclty 3000rpm!!!! (any speed, any gear, at 3000rpm!!)

i have mentioned this to my dealer many times, and they couldn't do anything about it.

This problem was also posted on is300.net about half year ago, and some ppl had it but some didn't.

My dealer after test driving few other ISs, told me that they all have same noises at 3krpm, so reported this to LEXUS, but
NO SOLUTION so far.

I just test drove sportscross last week with my friend, but it DID NOT HAVE that rattle at 3k rpm! so it pisses me off but can't do anything!!!!!

although, if u drive real hard for more than few hundred miles, the rattle will disappear for several days.. what the hell is going on!
