I have a 2005 RX 330 and while driving VCS, brake and ABS light comes on simultaneously after driving for an hour....... The lights disapear if I turn off the engine and restart the car..... then it takes another hour or so before they reappear........

I recently had the tires rotated and it may be that the technician accidently disconnected or loosened the sensor whilch I believe is near the tire/rotor........

Does this make sense?
Do you know where to locate these sensors or wiresfor these sensors near the Tire/rotor? A picture would be helpful

I think the oxygen sensor can cause those lights to go on.

 

Take it in for a check, should be covered under warranty. Do not sweat it. See the dealer.

 

Ask your dealer to consider replacing the "neck" that connects the gas cap with the gas tank. Sometimes the threads on the "neck" won't seal the tank properly no matter what gas cap is used.

Had the same warning lights. This was the problem with my 2008 LS 460. "Neck" changed -- no more issue.

I've that happened to me last month. Dealer replaced the O2 sensor.
They did first check if my gas cap wasn't tighten.

have your dealer check the brake light switch for unitended continuety. the abs light will not come on for an oxygen sensor and those lights would not be reset by cycling the key.

Believe it or not they kept the car for 4 hrs and they cannot seem to find anything wrong........ Since the light don't stay on all the time continuously.

Any other suggestions............. Where is brake switch ? Is that worth a check?

 

You mean the brake switch on the emergency brake? That won't do it. I had that misadjusted, and the brake light only comes on, whith a chime every once in a while.

 

Hummmmm..... Well are U aware of any recalls ............... I am also struggling, because some days the lights won't even come on, so it is random, I am trying to figure out what causes this..........Is it when I accelerate too fast, when I brake too fast, when the road is icy.......... The thing is my wife also drives this car and asking her to keep an eye out for all the variables is a challenge too......... Any way let me know if you have any ideas

 

I have the same issue and it started about 6 weeks ago. It is random and it goes away when I re-start the car. I think I had these lights have come on 3 times so far.

 

If the brake fluid level is just slightly low, it can cause these warning lights to come on. When cold the brake fluid shrinks and the levels drops. Then when it warms a little the level will be OK and not show a fault. Add some DOT 3 brake fluid from a new container and the warning lights should stay off. Do not add above the "MAX" level to allow room for expansion.

 

brake fluid--good idea. Too bad lexus does not publish a table that says: "when these idiot lights light-up, here are the possible causes".

I would also make darned sure that the gas cap is on good--not sure if that would cause all 3 lights to come on, but it causes some lights to come on--can't remember which.

I would also poke around and make sure the oil and tranny dipstick are well seated, the oil fill cap is tight, etc. Make sure the air filter is not clogged.

I am still going with the O2 sensor, though.
