The credit card key info is noted in the Owner's Manual.

The master key CUT from Sewell is 146.00, this does not include programming of the key. Do you think I can find it for cheaper and get it cut for cheaper ok n eBay? Maybe 1010keys if they are still open?

I got this on ebay and they even cut the key for you. All you have to do is drop put in your key transmitter into the new key case.

Anyway good that you got your keys for cheap. Do you mind posting who the seller ID of fleabay since I need a spare?

Thanks
Rather than deal with buying pieces one place, service another... and hoping it all works, why not have locksmith supply, cut and program the keys? Most locksmiths that do automotive technology service already have the material on-hand.

We decode original key, and cut fresh ones on a CNC machine. Our keys contain the same RFID chip as the ones the same manufacturers supply to the company that has the contract with Toyota/Lexus to provide.. You have to go to a pro for professional solutions.

The Ebay thing usually only wastes time. The chip and blade are not the expensive part, except on the ones with the remote head.

"LASER" cut keys refers to the key type that has the groove running up the center of each side of the Lexus key. IT is done on a CNC End mill type machine. No CO2 Laser involved, it is an euphemism as is "sidewinder".

I would make a best guess they tried it on a tracing type machine. That means all the wear and tear gets translated to the new key. We never make them that way. We cut them by code, or OEM specifications on CNC machinery.

IT is possible the WEB dimension was too thick, so their key would not work. That would indicate their machien is out of adjustment.

The web is the remaining THICKNESS of the blade in the center cut area, after both sides are cut. Off the top of my head, this thickness should be .040 Tolerances of 0+/10-

Also, if you have had intermittent lock issues, a fresh key could fail to operate a lock with a marginal problem, that is in need of service.

It is hard to be sure, these are just some possibilities.

These instructions are to program remote keyless entry, not the immobilizer chip if your vehicle is so equipped.

if you are putting the old electroncis into a new blade and shell, no programmign whatsover is needed... all the elecronics move over into the fresh key.

As far as adding NEW keys, I would be leary of the flipkeys being sold... they might have and L on em, but those are NOT LExus product, to the best of my knopwledge at this time. We encountered these for a Honda, which was 1/8" too short, so once ignition was turned, key could not be turned back to off, due to the needed push in to turn feature of the lock. These novelty products can cause issues. Proceed at own risk.

SOME Lexii chip keys can be programmed without a scan tool, providing you have a MASTER, not a VALET original in order to enter programming mode. You can test any working key to determine this by inserting the key in the ignition. The theft light be out completely, once key is inserted. IF you get a illimination momentarity, THEN it goes out it is a valet key. If you get a flashing light, it is an unprogrammed key altogether.

A lot of info on the web is wrong, particularly from those SELLING the stuff mail order. Recipient will get "PROGRAMMING INSTRUCTIONS" that say "TAKE TO LOCKSMITH" in the case of the models that require scan tool programming ( 2/3 of ALL Lexusususus vehicles ). We are on these instructions from all the major EBAY sellers. I do not TRASH these firms, just tell it like it is.... a lot of effort, sometimes with no savings, or even higher cost than just going to a locksmith in the first place.

Default Cut and program? What year and model ?

Can anyone in GA point me in the right direction? Thanks!
The following are typical charges my firm charges. Vehicle at our shop. This is not an offer, nor quote to travel across the US and do it onsite. Onsite quotes provided by private email requests only. Other locksmiths may charge more, or less for similar or dissimilar services. Each is an independent shop, with their own price structure, overhead and business model

Cut your Ebay Key 75.00 for the first one, 50.00 for each additional
Program?

a. 16 bit systems 50.00 to add a key, but you need to have a MASTER key that currently works. If you do not have a working MASTER, we will make you one of OUR master keys, and make it a TRUE RFID copy of your valet key.

b. 32 bit systems 75.00 to reset immobilizer, clearing out all missing./stolen keys and programming your EBAY key and any existing keys

c. aftermarket remote. Can be used with nonremote masters on vehicles that support encrypted remote technology ( Newer as opposed to older fixed code transmitters )

That should give you an idea of the typical charges one might expect, as well as the OPTIONS that the dealer may not be offering.

Provide your zip code, I will post a list of firms in your area that should be able to help you

My RX master key shell broke. I purchased a key blank (OEM) from a member. When I called a reputable locksmith [who claim they do cut Lexus (among other) car keys], they insisted on charging me to program the key. I kept insisting that all I need is the key to be cut. My least cost route was to take the key to the dealer and they cut it for me.

I have heard of some cases where the dealer have refused to cut NON-OEM keys, citing that other keys can damage their machine.

SOME locksmiths say the same thing. Not all machines are created equal, nor the cutting bits used in them. We are not afraid of Ebay keys. Though you barely will save much, going through all that when I have all that stuff in stock. Plus, I can only GUARANTEE mine to work.

A locksmith that specializes in automotive can help you. Even if the dealer says you need a new computer and generously offers a free computer if you pay the 1500.00 labor and for the new keys.

Locksmiths can reset the ECU or ICU ( computer ), and program in new keys.

Avoid the fake locksmith listings online and in phone books. Two good referal networks of background checked locksmiths:

http://www.legallocksmiths.com/Defau...?pageId=971458 http://findalocksmith.com/search.aspx

These two venues are a public service by their respective oerganizations. One can not buy there way to a referral.
