There is an ebay dealer selling keys with transponder and remote in a switch blade type. He stated that he will include written instructions of how to program both the transponder chip and keyless remote. Cost was $110. I asked the Lexus about cutting it, and was told it's $20 plus tag. That's still better than $285 that I got quoted from the same dealer for another transponder/remote key. If anyone wants to go that route, I'll post the ebay link. Don't have it now with me.
Unfortunately I lost my remote key last weekend. Can you let me know where I can get the it with reasonable price? Appreciate in advance.
I think best bet will be to buy a used key from ebay make sure you have the fcc code matches yours. then buy a blank shell with uncut key, using the chip and install into the uncut key shell. Or get an uncut key with the right code along with the chip.
Take the remaining keys in your hand let the dealer cut the uncut key and program all your keys same time. The end result is you have the keys that will operate the car.
I know at ebay a seller called 1010keys you can get empty shell with key cut according to your key code and using the shells, along with used chip you buy from ebay to program. This route might be a way to avoid seeing the dealer. I am not sure how the program part will work for you. Maybe someone has a better idea.
I have seen Denso keys with the transponder on them, uncut. Have it cut and programmed by your local Lexus dealer. Or else have it cut by a locksmith or Ace or Home Depot, Wallyworld.
I got the same story from Lexus of Annapolis. They will sell me a cut shell for $100 (no electronic module), but will not cut my eBay purchased ($10) shell.
Words escape me.

I found a key on ebay w uncut blade for around $70. I live in Miami area, can travel to Broward and Ft Lauderdale as well, and I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to which locksmith I should call who will be able to cut and program the key for a decent price. I suppose the dealership with charge an arm and a leg...
Thanks to anyone who can help with any suggestions!
You rock! My key blew out yesterday and we fixed it with SuperGlue. Hope it works, so I can avoid thecost of a new key. Thanks for your thread!
My spare key's plastic is cracked and when I go over bumps the key has a chance to falls apart. Instead of using super glue, I bought a rubber key fob to hold the key together. Its been holding up fine. I don't trust super glue as from my personal experience, with use, the glue just won't hold.
I got a call from the dealer i bought my RX from. after having it for a month they call to tell me they have 2 spare keys for me. other master & credit card key. not sure how the cc key works
