Angry Am I missing something with "Setting the Auto Locking Features?

so I held down the driver power door lock switch in the read which is simply the unlock position right?
1. close all doors (does the actual positionn of the lock matter?
2. turn the igition to on . did not start engine but one more click would start the engine
3. within 10 seconds the ignition still in on the position and the car still in park I push and hold the unlock position of the driver power lock switch. held for at least 30 seconds. Nothing happens!!!

I am so frustrated why can't lexus just make a simple display to program everything. Even a Chevy Impala rental has it not alone every other car in this price category from Mercedes to fords. only Lexus/Toyota and Honda and Acura think its ok not to do this. I really frustrates me.
