After installing an OEM hitch on our family RX, wife had complained of the clunking noise that has appeared after the install. She'd described the noise as coming in only when making "dynamic" turns and when vehicle hasn't been warmed up.
I got underneath our RX this morning and after making sure my install is not loose, saw a bit of a chrome powder on the hitch tube right near exhaust chrome tip. It seems that the whole exhaust has a bit too much play and the chrome tip does touch with towing hitch tubing.
Has anyone else had that problem?
Our RX is 05 with 49K mi..I've made a service appt after Lexus advisor agreed that the vehicle should work properly with OEM accessories. My other concern was the rear differential fluid, or lack of...lol
Slightly off topic. What do you use the hitch for? I have no need for it, but just wondering what my 330 can pull theoretically. I saw towing capacity ~3000 lbs. What would that equate to? A few jet skis? Can you pull a small boat?
As for your topic, I agree that the dealer should honor repairs/adjustments that need be done. Good thing you still have the warranty. You should post a followup later; see if the dealer does go through on the repairs under warranty.
I had put on the tow hitch to pull a 7-seater jet boat, which has approx weight of about 2300-2400 lbs. When towing just a boat, and 2 ppl including driver in the RX had no prob other than getting 12.3-12.5 when filled with regular. The RX is easily capable of towing more
I am going to check out the spare tomorrow! It was a bit loose too...although remember tightening it real good.
