Default Back up Camera

I have 08 RX 350 Black on Black and really like It...The back up camera does give me some problems...Seems to me everything is much closer than camera shows..It is very hard to judge distance of near by vehicles..What do you guys think..........Don

When I bought my 05, I just placed a plastic chair behind the car. I then watched the chair through the backup camera until the car bumped it. I then knew how to judge how close something was using the backup camera.

I find myself in similar situations. I try to judge by the bumper that is visible on the camera.

What I do have to adjust to is how to judge distance in the front bumper when I want to park against the wall. Headlights and front of the car seem to be almost in the wall, but when I get out, I do have quite a big distance to still push up the car closer. I just have to get used to it. If anyone knows tricks how to make that easier, please share

If the wall is something on the street/random, there is nothing but experience and good eye depth perception can help you.

If the wall is your garage wall then try this simple thing:

1. Try to park in the perfect spot.

2. Hang a tennis ball from the ceiling, just touching the windshield of your car. (Obviously you will need a small ceiling hook, a length of string attached to a tennis ball)

3. From then on, every time you pull in the garage, slowly drive up until your windshield touches the tennis ball. You will park in the same perfect spot every time.
