Honestly, if that is the case I won't wait for it. I'm entertaining ideas of getting rid of my BMW 330i and LS400 and getting a new car. On this list was the new Avalon, a BMW 335i, an Infiniti G35S, but we were going to wait until the new 09 RX350 comes out early next year before we make a decision. If we liked the RX, we would have waited until the end of 08 (Which would probably be about 6 months after introduction of the 09) when the 2nd run 2010 model came out and bought that. Now, I probably would go for the infiniti G35S. I want to buy a 2nd run model, and if the RX is going to be a 2010 model coming out in 2009, it is just too long to wait for the 2011 model.

Default I'd skip the g35...

Own a g35 now (used to be the wifes) and I swear we'll never buy another infiniti again. Mine rattles non stop, the seats are nightmares - it did look pretty cool at one time, but now they are a dime a dozen. To me it's basically a poor man's acura.
The g35 rides night and day from the rx, so not sure why they would be on the same list. If I didn't get an rx, I'd probably get an rdx or an mdx.

If it's true that they are delayin the new model till 09, then I feel for the folks who are waiting. But for me, I'm glad I bought mine in 07 - best vehicle I have ever owned

i still think they will be out by next year. im depending on my instincts because i need a new car next year. my RX will be goin on 5 years old by august...and i cant live with that outdated technology, lol.

i was going to cross shop the RX with the LS...but if this is the case, i think the LS wins

I'd be surprised if the new RX didn't arrive early-mid next year as an '09 model. The RX and ES are the bread and butter (by volume) for Lexus. If the '09 is not the new design, that would put it in it's 6th year of the current model. I think RX sales would really begin to drop at that point.

Especially, Mazda CX9 just got the title SUV of the year. I think Lexus should aim for this title in 09 so they can continue to dominant in this category and get people interest more in Lexus SUV.

Here is another source saying 2010:

"The Lexus RX 400h AWD was last redesigned in 2004 and the next major change is expected in 2010."

"The Lexus RX 350 AWD was last redesigned in 2004 and the next major change is expected in 2010."

edit:

On the other hand: "A hybrid version of the RX is definitely on the production calendar. It's rumored to exceed 400 horsepower when it arrives in 2010 as a 2011 model. The base RX350 is expected to arrive in late '08 as a '09 model." from http://www.leftlanenews.com/lexus-rx-future.html

Wasn't there a rumor floating about that the new RX would debut at the Tokyo show? So far, I've seen/heard nothing on that - anyone else?

That sounds like an awful idea. People the RX for comfort and decent speed. If they want real speed they go for a Porsche Cayenne. My parents have a BMW to have fun it and the 400h for their 600 mile treks to South Carolina that are much more fuel efficient than their RX300 was.

If anything, the direct injected 3.5L should be in both the RX350 and the 400h. More power and great fuel efficiency. Sweeeeeet.

Hello everyone this is my first post here. For the last month I've been digging up info on the 09 RX and can't find nothing thats for certain. What would make sense campared to other models (ex. MDX ect) is a small 3rd row seat. In turn the length of the new highlander could be the same of the 09 RX. I was told by the dealer that it would be coming out late spring/ early summer of 08 but he also said look for it at the Tokyo show. Well, the Tokyo show has already gone by and nothing. I'm checking periodically at the LA show!!!

Well I truly hope it comes up spring/summer of 08 because I plan on getting one for Christmas 08 for my wife. I just do not wish to pay a preimium, MSRP is fine but no more....

Welcome to ClubLexus, Druco. In typical Lexus fashion they are tight-lipped and secretive about release dates and actual vehicles. Lexus however did show this concept vehicle at Tokyo which is widely believed to be a concept starting point for the future RX.

I was at my local dealer today. They were very confident that the new RX design will come out in the Spring or 2009 and no sooner. This is in line with the most recent articles we've been seeing on-line.

The thing is I have a 04 rx330 and it does have almost 70,000 miles. We usually trade autos in just before that mark. In the past year or two you have the redesign BMW X5, MDX and maybe there's something else I'm missing but this should be the year for the RX. If not, I might be forced into something else I looked at the GX but I don't need v8, the space would be nice but I don't need to dump $70.00 of gas to fill that monster. All I gotta say is I hope 2008 brings the new RX!
