Hi,

We are planning to shop for a '08 RX 350 AWD (Premium Package plus, wheel lock, all weather mats) in Northern VA.

What price should we aim for paying for the RX around northern VA (Vienna/Fairfax) area?

Do share if you know of a good dealership where I can get a good deal.

Thanks,
CB

I purchased my RX350 last weekend. I sent out price quote using edmunds to all Lexus dealerships in Northern VA and MD. Only 3 dealerships return with price quotes and they are all located in MD. No northern VA dealerships returned my price request at all. It seems that they are not willing to 'compete' for price thru' internet. Yes, I did sent price request to Pohanka and Lindsay.

SO in the end, I pit the 3 MD dealerships against each other. I told them I am buying within 24hrs and will only come to the dealershp if the price is right. Tips: The realistic price is, based on carsdirect and edmunds and costco, should be close to (a couple hundred above) invoice for MD-VA-DC region.

Once I felt the price was close enough to what it should be, I came in to one of MD dealership the day after and had them apraise my trade. Then I haggled a bit with them to give me more for my trade and to reduce the purchase price of the RX350. You know, the usual number game.

If you have no trades, I think you can make it simpler by finalizing the price of the RX using email with internet sales mgr from each dealership. Once finalized, you just come in to the dealerships, sign papers, write the check and off you go. That's how I purchased my IS in 2006. Painless.

Remember good deal = realistic deal for your area. You cant really compare what buyers in California got for an RX350 to what are here in our area. Buyers in CA are able to get $1K to $1.5K below invoice easily from what I read in this forum. It is THAT good over there. Of course you can buy in CA and ship it here, but the shipping cost may wash out your savings.

Good luck.

I test drove the MDX yesterday. It is too noisy as compared to the RX 350.
I have decided to go with the RX and spoke to couple of dealers yesterday.
Today most of them are closed in the area. Planning to buy it tomorrow.
Hopefully will get it at 40K on road (price + ttl + all papers work etc)

Crackberry,
Are you going to get nav package as well in addition to premium plus package? If you are AND if you can get the RX at the price as mentioned in your post above, it is a steal ! Good hunting....

$40K on road is for the non-nav option.
For the navigation package, my guess is that it will be additional $2000 to $2400.

That's about right for VA-DC-MD area at this point.

IMHO getting a luxury car without NAVI is a waste of $$, but to each his own. MD Lexus dealers are way too spoiled but there are dealerships in PA and NJ, and you should be able to get 08 AWD with NAVI for 40 OTD- its the invoice price.

You can easily get a portable Nav as good as the factory's for 20% of the price, and you can take it with you from car to car.

True, but a good portable navi will cost $500+ benefit of rear view camera, which would cost another $700 to have. Also, if you have 40 Gs to spare on a care, the $2000 option is a mere 5% of the total price.

You can get the latest GPS with bluetooth for about $400, I must agree that the rear camera is nice to have, but not for $1600.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. In my opinion ( ), the lexus nav is well worth it. I like to have the clean integration in the car, the touch screen menu for climate, info, bluetooth screen, address, phone books, and rear backup camera. Now I am not bashing the aftermarket gps units here. I love the Nuvis series for their features and portability. And there is nothing wrong in getting the RX without factory nav either.

When my siginificant other can spend on designer purses that in total costed more than oem nav but have no function except for the brandnames, i still think the factory nav purchase is justifiable

Thats what I have, the Garmin nuvi, its a great little unit. I guess if the wife can afford thousands of dollar on handbags, the price of the factory Nav. is just a drop in the bucket.
