I was wondering if there is automatic volume on the radio, that is as the vehicle goes faster the radio volume automatically increases, when you slow down it reduces. I see that under the audio display a label of "ASL", I thought this might mean "Automatic Sound Level" and I selected "ON" but no difference when driving. I had this feature on my Corvette and Aura, maybe it is just GM.
Now before the wise guys start, yes I know how to turn up the volume, I just thought that a "Luxury" vehicle should have this feature, if not no big deal.

It's a very subtle sound leveler. It does work and if you really pay attention to the bars, the speed, and the sound, you can tell the difference.
Having said that, it is not like on a GM car, where it is a very noticeable volume adjustment at any speed. When I travel and rent, the GM cars with this feature adjust the sound from 0 mph to 10 mph to 20 mph, etc.
I'm thinking the Lexus ASL is partially based on ambient noise (and not just speed)?? Your thoughts? Opinions?
I understand that it uses the bluetooth phone microphone and checks the ambient noise level within the cabin. If the ambient noise moves up or down significantly, it adjusts the stereo accordingly. The idea of this is that it should be completely imperceptible to the occupants of the cabin. Lexus are renowned for their low NVH levels so this is why when compared to a GM car, you can't really see it happening.

Thanks for all the replies, I will check the bar when I drive the vehicle later today and see if it changes. On the GM you can adjust the level from low, medium and high or off which is nice. Again, thanks for the help.
I use the volume preset feature on the steering will a lot to contol to levle as i come to a stop, However a few times when I hit it the Radio goes to Max Volume, As anybody had that problem?

Since the BT mic is next to the moonroof, I'll test this out by opening my moonroof while driving on the freeway to see if the bars on the ASL indicator changes significantly.
