Default VSC light on

My VSC warning light came on. Looks like I have to bring the car into be serviced. I have an '07 RX350 with less than 4,000 miles on it. Anyone know what the issue might be and if I could expect it to be covered by the warranty? Thanks.

First try resetting the VSC by cycling the on-off button. It's located below the dash just about in line with your right knee. Feel around under there and you'll find two buttons about 2" apart. One resets the tire pressure warning (on my '04) and the other turns the VSC on and off. Your newer model will probably be different, but it's a place to look. I forgot which is which.

Or you could check your owners' manual . . .

I thought the "VSC off" button was new for '08? I'll be thrilled if the '07 has it, but I don't think it does.

yes it will be covered under warranty, is the check engine light on as well. if it is i would suspect an evap code, if no check engine light is on then maybe a speed sensor. have your dealer check it out.

My 07 RX350 also had the VSC light come on with only a few thousand miles. It turned out to be an oxygen sensor which took them 2 tries to order the correct part

What would the Vehicle Stability Control have to do with an O2 sensor?

My guess is it will disappear and turn out to be nothing. I had the same thing on my 04. VSC light came on. Called the dealer and they could only take me in a week later. Drove the car around for about 5 days with the light on with no noticable ill effects. The light went off on its own by the time I took it to the dealer and they informed me they could find no recorded trouble codes and since the light was off couldn't diagnose anything. Told me to come back it the light came on again and it never did for the remainder of my ownership which as about 2 and half years longer.

O2 sensor or ABS/Wheel sensor? Like Lil4X mentioned, not sure how an O2 would be involved, but I can see the ABS/Wheel sensor causing problems for the VSC.

OK...so I brought my RX to the dealer and it turns out that nothing mechanically was wrong. I was told that the light could be tripped when you fill up your car with gas without turning off the engine...it can even happen if the car is not running, but the key is in the on position. It can even happen if the gas cap is not on the tank correctly.

It has something to do with the pressure in the gas tank being either too high or too low. That gets sensed by the computer and as a precaution it shuts off the vehicle stability control. And when this occurs the dealer has to reset it. Kind of wacky if you ask me...seems like an example of over engineering, and something that can happen too easily.

Anyway, thought I would pass this along. Was inconvenient to bring it into the dealer, but at least it was covered and I got a complimentary wash out of it!

That seems like a load of Bull! That has nothing to do with the VSC system....I dont believe it one second.

I know for a fact when my light came on It was a few days after we filled up gas. Also, I never leave the car on or the key in the on position. The car is always fully turned off. Also, why I can't be 100% sure, I'm pretty sure I know how to properly tighten the gas gap I've never had a check engine light come of becuse of the gas cap on any OBDII car I've owned yet. My light stayed on for about a week then decided to disappear leaving no trace that it existed according the dealer. The couldn't pull any codes. So, in my case I don't think it was bad gas since I was still on the same tank of gas, it couldn't have been the gas cap since I never touched it.

Too me, this is just one of those things that you'll never really know what caused it unless it happens again.

PS. If I recall, while this may seem like a minor issue, it is my understanding that when the VSC light is on that not only mean the VSC system is turned off. So, if you needed its help during that time when the light was on I think you'd be out of luck.

there should be a VSC off button way below under the steering wheel by the footwell. it is not visible when youre sitting. you have to be looking from the door sill to see it. it should right next to the tire pressure button.

its the button that says 'trac off'
