Default A brief article and super-camoed prototype pics from The Car Connection:

2009 Lexus RX: Spied!
Under all the camouflage, the next-generation RX emerges.
by Brenda Priddy

We've seen a few cobbled-up test mules in recent weeks, wearing a chopped up / modified body of a current Lexus RX. But this is actually an early prototype of the new crossover, which is why nearly every inch is covered up.

The RX will be undergoing a major update for the 2009 model year, with production beginning in late December of 2008, toward an on-sale date of early spring of 2009.

The new RX will measure slightly larger than the outgoing model. It will still offer a 3.5-liter V-6, but we're expecting a new six-speed transmission to go along with the V-6. A 400-horsepower hybrid powerplant is expected to following in 2010 or 2011.

It actually looks like that is the exact same front end as the existing RX, probably the same for testing purposes.

You dislike those rims? I respectfully disagree. I really like their design.

My favorite rims for an RX in terms of design are Zeit SS (below), but I really want lightweight Rota rims.

For the longest time an RX has been associated with the 18" 5 Spoke design. The new 7 spoke for the 07 and 08 is quite refreshing. I am slowly getting familiar with it. I like the graphite shine finish to it, though.

The 3rd row speculation is common to these articles. The latest spy pics look very similar to the current RX.

i actually like the old RX330/350 rims. The ones i have have the graphite finish as well with the performance package. it looks really cool, a lot better than the alloy white regular rims.

btw those tires are huge!
