GX470 vs RX350
Of those out there who own either a RX350 or a GX470 what are your opinions on the differences between the two? Did you consider both? Why did you pick the one you picked? I like the overall exterior appearence of the GX but I am having a hard time getting over the "dated" look of the interior. Whereas the RX inside is relatively new and upgraded. I am also curious as to the difference that GX owners see in the non-HID headlights. (I can't belive that Lexus has not added this to the GX yet...come on it is 2007) Any help would be appreciated.

It depends what you want to do with the vehicle, and what features are important to you.
A customer bought a GX about two weeks ago having ridden in my RX 330. I think he wanted a little more physical size plus the third row seats having come out of a Cadillac DTS. I had an opportunity to drive his GX briefly and came away impressed but not won over. From the inside at least, the passenger space is surprisingly similar, the GX being based on the 4Runner's truck frame, gives a bit more head and shoulder room and is a bit taller, with more upright seating.
If you opt for the third row seats, the GX offers very little cargo space with the seats folded. With the seats down, they are pretty cramped for even small adults. If you HAVE to haul a good-sized family, it deserves to be on your list of vehicles to check out. I spent several hours in a new Tahoe a few weeks before, and think the Chevy might be the better buy of the two - again if you need cargo or towing capacity.
The ride of the GX is smooth and comfortable - belying it's truckish origins. The V8 is strong if thirsty, and with a more rugged frame, suspension, and drive train, it is going to be a lot more competent off road. The highly touted 2-speed transfer case is a non issue unless you are contemplating serious mud bogging. I drove 4X4 Suburbans on and off road for twenty years and used low range on only a handful of occasions (plus once selecting 4H to limp home after snapping the transfer case chain). The GX's superior ground clearance, and stronger drivetrain (compared to the RX) could prove important in the deep rough.
I didn't find the GX nearly so refined as the RX - which is at least two generations ahead in development from the current 4Runner. On the highway the RX is the superior cruiser, smooth, silent, and competent in all respects. The GX is probably one of the best small luxury trucks on the market, but it is STILL a truck. It's not just lipstick on a pig, but a full face and body lift. Nevertheless, it's porcine roots are showing. All of that cosmetic surgery isn't cheap, and a basic GX will cost you a bit more than a fully loaded RX.
My take on the GX was that for the difference in cost, it wasn't worth it. But that's just me.
