The birdseye mapple does look really nice. I had the same color interior only with the regular wood trim.

Yes... the color contrast is great, I incorporated the same color scheme in my hatch area for the subs and amplifiers. All hidden away beneath the storage panels.

Hmmm, we've had that interior since early 05. The black Birdseye maple came as a feature of the Thundercloud Limited Edition. In direct sun, it's really striking to see. Here's hoping that when the 09 comes out, they have the black as an option.

Nice work done in the storage area. Can you tell us how long this job took? I am considering doing the same thing but can't be without my RX for more than a day at most.

Thanks

Well, I redid the entire audio system as well as adding a 5.1 theater video system. I took my time and sometimes took months off, but I would say it was about a year in the making. A lot of the time was in planning the system out and then building all the different pieces so they would all fit together perfectly. Taking apart all the different panels, doors, seats and dash panels several times, as well as applying "deadening material", constructing speaker door plates, running major cables and wires, etc. ... it just takes a lot of time and patience. I tried not to drill any holes to secure any new panels that I built, there were a lot of 10mm existing holes to use that I secured my paneling and stereo equipment with.
As for the cooling of the amplifiers, there's no problem, in fact, I can view the temperature of the amplifier and the voltage that it's running at from the indash Alpine IVA-D310 headunit.
As for doing the job in one day... no way! Take your time and plan things out... and do a good job.
If you'd like to see more pics, I have the RX330 on Sound Domain. I have just a few of the build pics there, as well as changing out all of the lights to "white" LEDs. Here's the link:

I really wish they'd had the dark wood in the light gray interior when I had my '05 RX 330. I also wish they offered it in the RX 400h right now ... maybe they will when the '08 400h comes out. Actually I wish they'd still just send them all out with aluminum trim

I think I'm going to have to hunt for interior pieces with that wood in the junk yards.

good luck.
My understanding is the RX330 Thundercloud (a 2005 special release) was only one to have the black wood.
