Default Add Push Button Start to RX350

You know what I'd really like is to have the same push button start my wife has in her GS300 in my RX350! It's so nice to never have to reach for or dig out your keys! Just walk up to the door and it opens, sit and push the button and it starts.

Anyone know if it would be possible to rig that on an RX? I can't believe it wasn't available in the new 07's!

Depends on what you mean by possible? Affordable on the average chump's income? Probably not. Oth, if you watch Chip Foose make cars from flat sheet metal or Orange County Choppers making round gas tanks from 1/8" sheet steel, you know anything is possible if you have deep pockets and pay the right people.

From what I know of the push button start system, one of the key ingrediants is the key fob which means you need that, the receiver and all of the wiring to make that thing work.

Probably outrageously expensive. Hey, sleep in your car and save the money you would spend on rent. Then you can pay for the modifications.

Default I was thinking...

Maybe if I could find a lexus vehicle thats been in an accident that's been salvaged...perhaps I could buy the parts needed and then install it in the RX as a modification?

Default Salvaging for Keyless Starting Stuff for the RX-350

The best source "junk parts" would be from an Avalon! I really miss having keyless start! It's especially nice when you have a coat on.

How do you get in the locked RX?

Getting into a locked 'keyless' Lexus is really easy, the moment you touch the door handle, it unlocks for you (you have to have the key fob in your pocket, or on your person). If you get a chance check out how an IS 250 or 350 works, it's great. Ours (IS 250) has spoiled us and now whenever I go to get into our RX, I expect the doors to unlock when I approach.

To me it would make more sense to have key-less ignition if the vehicle has key-less entry.

So for people who are thinking of adding a key-less ignition, does their RX has key-less entry?

Generally, at least with Lexus, if you have keyless ignition, you have keyless entry - just depends on your definition of 'keyless'. Our RX's technically have keyless entry, buy need the key to be turned to start. Our IS on the other hand, has a nice big button that says 'Start' on it - and as long as we have the key fob on our person, you push down on the brake peddle, and then push the button - presto, the engine cranks and starts. Kinda like magic!

Default Push button woes...

I have been shopping around for the "keyless push button" parts and have found a place that can sell it to me. The problem now is where do I take it to be installed? Any thoughts?
