dealer service mgr says noise at cold start up is common said engine noise is from new higher tech 270 HP engine. said during cold starts direct injection of fuel can cause noise like a clicking sound of valve lifters of older cars. has anyone else heard this noise from their RX350??

All the new engines with the 3.5L has the ticking noise cause' of the direct injection. For me that's unacceptable. Checkout the other forums everyone is having the same problem. I think Lexus needs to go back to the drawing board!

 

The RX350 does not have direct injection. Only the IS350 and GS350 have the direct injection. My RX350 has that same deep knocking noise that many refer to as piston slap. It does go away when fully warmed up. I have driven several others that have this same disturbing noise. Seems to be a common problem if that makes it "normal". I am disappointed that these vehicles make this noise. If GM had made this engine, everyone would be screaming about poorly engineered American junk. Oddly enough my IS350 does not make this noise.

 

I've also notice some ticking sound from the engine in the morning... when i start the car

 

Almost makes me want to get rid of our RX330 because of this noise. So annoying! Guess need to turn up the music all the time now...
