First road trip!
After a 5000 mile around town break in ,I took my '07 RX350 on its first long road trip. I got 28 mpg with premium going and 25 mpg coming back with regular unleaded. I set the cruise at 84 mph, turned up the music and relaxed. What mpg are the other RX350 owners getting? I was pretty happy with my results.
I went on a 2 hr drive on the highway today in Connecticut after I filled up. {$50} Ended up gettin' 25 mpg on the highway which was fine but I'm only gettin' 15-16 mpg around town. The truck only has 900 miles on it so I don't know if that affects anything
I have been getting about same milage in the city with 750 miles so far. We probably will not get a true reading until we have several thousand miles on our RX.
Should I wait until the break in period is over before making a long trip? Isn't it the first 1000 miles or after the first oil change at 5000 miles? My RX350 has only 700+ miles and I plan to make a trip from Boston to NYC (220+ miles each way). I can't wait to do 70, 80 mph on the highway.

My RX350 FWD gets about 24 mpg on the highway, driving about 80 mph and using premium fuel. If someone is getting 28 mpg under similar circumstances, there's something wrong with my car. I do get about 20 mpg in town (suburban street) driving, though; I'm happy with that.
One more thing about highway trips with the RX350: I am extremely displeased with the level of road noise on anything but smooth asphalt pavement. In one instance on I10 in west Texas, on concrete pavement, the road noise was so loud that it was drowning out the radio at comfortable volume, and I had to turn it off. Perhaps the Goodyear tires that Lexus is so fond of are at fault.

I looked at several other RX350s and RX400hs at my dealer, and they all had the Goodyears.
I notice that in the Tirerack surveys the Michelins are rated a lot higher than the Goodyears with regard to noise.
