Has anyone had to replace their fan motor??
The one inside the vehicle. At low speed we have a high pitched squeel.
I know, turn up the radio. Really it drives me nuts.
Nope. Haven't had the nerve to have the dealer tear apart the dash yet. But I do have the same problem, and it's annoying. (Getting closer to having it fixed!) First noticed it at a stoplight, and I thought it was someone else's loud fan belt. But when the noise moved with me, it warranted more investigation. Took me a while to realize the root cause - the fan motor bearing is shot! It's very noticable when the fan is on "Low" and the radio is turned off because I'm using the cell phone.
When I have that fixed, I'll also have them take a stab at the infamous dash rattle. I only have one - the defroster vent is rubbing against the dashboard.
I'm just afraid the dealer will create more problems than they solve when they tear it apart!
yup, had that EXACT problem! i posted here too and i don't think anyone replied with the same response. sometimes i drive with no radio on when i take a call and the low blower speed would chirp like a little bird. (the vent to the left of the steering wheel) drove me crazy!! they replaced it at 49500mi before my warranty was up. what a relief.
the service consultant said they replaced the entire blower motor; the cause was bad bushings on the original motor.
Agree, have it warrantied asap. It will only get worse.
Then consider a quarterly cleaning of the ACC interior filter. It keeps dust out of the motor assembly. Replace it with one from Toyota Highlander every couple of years.
Taking it in tomorrow as the dealer said it is still under warranty.
Will this take more then a day?
no, but they may not have the parts in stock, so you might have to bring it in for write up, then they will call you in a week once the parts get in. after that it should only take a few hours to replace.
You were right, took it in & 20 seconds later I was told they will call me when the fan motor comes in.
Guess I should have stopped in without a appointment rather than waiting.
