Default Remote Starter- RX330, Who's done it?

Hello all,

Being winter is around the corner, I imagine this would be a nice little Christmas presents for my parents RX330. HAs anyone had a remote starter instaleld on their RX330? Were there any complications and what should I be looking for? Thanks and great forums!

The RX uses a transmitter in the key to start the Engine Control Unit. Remote starters designed not to work unless you leave the key in the ignition. Not a good idea. Mabee a detailing and wax might be an alternative.

Understood, but that is how all remote stater systems work;- by leaving the spare key in some transponder type box.

I just got my remote start installed. I dont know if I can give the website but PM me for the information. I ordered the DEI 561T remote start module and DEI 555U bypass module. The place I ordered the alarm from was very helpful and it included the wiring diagram for the hook-up. I'm used my valet key in the bypass module. I'm using my factory remote to start my lexus. I just hit the "lock" button 3x and it starts with no problem.

The only thing that some individuals might have a problem with is:
-once you start the vehicle, the factory remote is no good (meaning that you cant unlock the doors, use the power gate, etc.) - you have to physically put your key in the door to unlock it.

I went to a local shop and had it installed for $125.00
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Just in case, someone wants more details, the following is what was sent to me from the company I bought the alarm from:

1st, the DEI 555X Bypass Module will not work on the 2006 Lexus RX330. The 555X works on many years and models of the Lexus, but not on the 2006 RX330.

2nd, if your ignition key is a "standard" key that you put in the ignition to turn on and start your vehicle, then you will need to use the DEI 556U Universal Bypass Module for your vehicle.

The DEI 556U requires the permanent use of an embedded coded ignition key to send the transponder signal to your vehicle's immobilizer.

If your ignition key is an infrared key, and no ignition key slot, but start your Lexus with a button, then you do not need any bypass module, but it is also un secure to leave a key hidden inside the vehicle as anyone can get in, press the start button, and drive off with your Lexus.

You will also need 1-DEI 8617 Relay to interface (energize) your vehicle's 2nd starter wire.

If anyone is interested I had them install the dvd headrests from Audiovox also. It's fantastic!
