RX330 Air Filter Picture
Has anyone tried the K & N filter yet on the RX 330? If so, any notice of improvement? I would like to make mine a little more "exicting". Two bolts removes the small rear muffler with chrome tip. I am thinking of trying a straight pipe there with a new tip. The main muffler would still be intact. Maybe a little more sound and along with the K& N filter maybe a small gain in performance. Any thoughts?

There are two self retaining screws. One toward the front of the vehicle and one toward teh firewall side. Remove those two screws then just tilt the whole assembly toward the passanger side. It detaches and you can squeeze the air filter out. You might have to wiggle the airbox free just a bit, but it isn't that tight. If you wanted to completely remove the airbox you probably will have to loosen all the hose clamps and unclip the AFM.
Tried the K&N in my wifes RX-330. Notice a little power increase and MPG increase. While you in there you should remove the charcoal filter located in the top portion of the air box lid. It will help complement the K&N filters air flow to the engine. They started putting them in the air boxes in 2006 for some emissions crap. It just neutralizes any fuel fumes which come back from the intake throught the intake tube so they don't get relaesed into the engine bay and atmosphere. Just drill out the hot melts and it will come out easy. I have also thought about removing the secondary muffler and running a straight pipe or putting on a TRD sport muffler. Have not done either yet. Hope this helps, not many choices for souping up your RX!
finally fixed it the cover should slid from the left side and under the tab of the host.
