Default Oil Filter

I have a 1999 RX-300 with AWD. My question is related to the oil filter that I normally change myself. Since day 1 I have used Toyota's 08922-02011 which is the exact replacement but now it appears the part numbers have changed. I have seen 6 different numbers claiming to be compatible with the car. My dealer says use 90915-YZZD1 but I am not going to rely on his sole word. Lexus customer service has no idea. Can someone confirm the part number?

90915-YZZD1 Thailand made for Denso / Toyota is the latest of the Lexus filter numbers. I get mine from Toyota at half the price Lexus enjoys ...

The different numbers correspond to different countries of manufacture.
Search the forum using the part number... there was an analysis some time ago about which country's was "better" than the others. The old number, made in Japan, was the winner of the debate, but they're the most expensive to get and most dealers don't stock them any more.

I would NOT suggest using a Fram oil filter in anything. Do a search on filter comparing. You will see how cheaply they are made. Pay an extra few bucks and get something that will protect your investment.

I would seriously consider using another kind of oil filter besides Fram........they are not considered good filters at all.......consider staying with a Toyota filter or moving to a K & N, Mobil 1 or even an Amsoil filter.

Default Filter

I use the ****D3 (also known as Toyota FO-11) - same diameter but slightly longer than the ****D1 which means more capacity. Fits fine on the '04 RX V-6, but can't say if clearance is OK on other years.

ok so, i'll take your advice...I won't get the Fram filters. I thought Fram was consider a good brand.

So, can someone please confirm on the part # of the oil filter that Lexus uses. I'm sure the same part # you can get it at any Toyota Dealership. Made In Japan.

Default 2005 Lexus RX330 AWD

OK....I just called my local Lexus dealership (parts dept.) here what they said......The part # for the oil filter is 90915-YZZD1. $13. This must be Lexus part #... not the part # that's labeled/printed on the oil filter itself cause' Toyota dealership parts dept. couldn't find this part #.

So, I called another Toyota dealership....and asked for the part # for a 2005 Toyota Highlander. He gave me this....08922-02011. $3.97 I'm sure is the same???????

Does anyone know what the actual part # is that's label/printed on the oil filter itself??

I hate to pay $13 for an oil filter at Lexus dealership.

Just changed the oil ... timing could not have been any better

New filter prchased from Lexus dealership: (filter was less than $10 & gasket (crush washer) slightly less than $2.

Box reads 90915-YZZD1 "TOYOTA" all over the red & white box ... made in Thailand.

Filter that came off (installed by Lexuds at last service) has the same number , black with white letters.

Salim.

I got the 90915-YZZD1 from the closest Toyota dealer for about $7 each. He threw in the crush washers (1 per filter). They fit just about any Toyota V6... the V6 Highlander and Sienna are the same engine as the RX.

Are the washers really necessary? I don't use them, and I don't have any leaks.

I just changed my RX300 AWD with Puralator Pure One (PL10241 ) and mobil 1 0w20 winter oil. The filter has synthetic material to filter out smaller particles (10-20 micro range) that paper filter can't catch. Go to Pepboy it is $5 and make sure it is the same size for RX330.
If you want to use OEM, choose the one made in Japan.
