Question 2 different styles ?

Well, it looks like Lexus has 2 styles of mud flaps. These photos are the made in Canada and bought in Canada ones. They don't seem to extend quite as far back on to the rocker panel as in the previous post.

Here is a photo of the front one...

Question Mud Gruad self install?

I was reading and the ones that WJBOSWELL installed he had to drill but I was wondering about the ones that oseidler installed did he have to drill? Or was it just a unscrew and screw job??

I wanted to get them for mine. I talked to the my lexus dealer and he said it would be from about 80 to 100 bucks to install.. ..so the hell with taht...i am going to install it myself ...

I still have not bought them but goign to as soon as i find out more about the install process.

If someone can help with this it would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

There was no drilling in the metal as far as I can recall. I looked at them again and they have not budged a bit. I would not have wanted to drill either so that why I was pleased with these.

Default Mudguards

I got the same ones that Oseidler got @ irontoad.com. You need to drill a pilot hole so that the screw goes in nice and easy. I used this link to do the install:

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...ght=mud+guards

I searched around for a while before I bought them and got them at a good price and saved myself the $100 installation cost. Pretty easy and I don't consider myself a very handy man. I used a dremel to make the pilot hole and then followed the instructions per the sheet that was sent to me and per the link above. Took me about an hr, but that was because I went slow to make sure everything fit nice...Once you get the hang of it, it is a pretty easy install.

As a kid, I laughed at my Dad when all he wanted for X-mas was tools from Sears, but now I see how valuable it is to have a good set of tools! Gone are the days of trying to screw in something w/the Swiss Army knife screwdriver!

You only have to drill through plastic trim on the inside of the wheel well so it isn't too frightening. Absolutely not worth $100 to have someone else do it. Just take your time and measure three times and drill once.
