Default HID question

Hi we just took delivery of a 04 rx330 awd. I notice that the HIDs are not pointed at the same level. I see 3 levels on the projected light on a wall. it looks like this.

xxxxxxxxxxxx______
______-----

I can get it this thing so show spaces, so I used the Xs as spaces.

is this normal? It is only visible when the wall is more than 8ft way, but i find myself looking for it on the the road at night. It is not a big deal, but it just bugs me that my car is not delivered to me in perfect condition. I don't know if i should even ask the dealer to look at it. My old IS300 never aimed right after some bodywork at the biggest dealer's body shop in SoCal. I had them adjust it 3 times finally gave up then I no longer got high beamed on the road. I don't want the dealer to mess it up more. My mom's 98 GS had a dot on the driver side mirror, they replaced it with the wrong color mirror. They weren't able to put the old one back since they no longer had it. I called around and no dealer knew that there was a different color tinted mirror. I got a ear full from my mom that time. My point is that since it is new part like that GS and IS was the dealers may not have knowhow to work on it.

I also just picked up my new 330 one week ago and noticed the same thing. The lights are supposed to adjust levels when you have passengers or loads. Put someone in the passenger seat and I bet your lights level out. I had someone get in and out of the car and I was able to watch the passenger side light go up and down. I guess you could have your dealer make them level for a driver only but then the passenger side light would point down when someone sat in the seat.

By the way...I love this car!!!

The driver side being lower than the passenger side is normal. I have a Infiniti J30 with projector halogens and this is also the case. This "stairstep" pattern is much more noticible with HID due to their sharper cutoff.

We did however have the dealer adjust the aim of the HID to a higher level. We noticed that our HID's were aimed too low compared with our RX330 loaner.

The sharp stairstep is much more noticeable with projector HIDs. They're meant to be that way so that you don't bliind oncoming traffic as much.

And the reason the passenger beam is higher is to illuminate signs(speed limit, exit, etc.) on the side of the road.
