Post 2008 Lexus RX 350 Dumping Oil

I had a hose split and it was dumping motor oil out all over the oil filter. I actually thought it was the oil filter leaking at first.

I limped it to the garage that was thankfully only about 1/4 of a mile away from work.

Anyhow, they sent me the attached video today and said the hose split...then they asked me to order the part...i have no idea what part it is.

I have some high temperature 3/8th in/10mm hose here at home, but I dont know if that is the size.

Any idea what part this is?

The oil was dumping out the front right of the car, but it looks like this guy is maybe standing on the front left.

Of course, I was only sent the grainy video and they said they dont have the part and want me to source it myself.

it shouldnt be the oil cooler line as I had the Lexus dealership here run the VIN when i bought it and they said it had already been replaced....but it sure looks a lot like it.

Wish they had sent some pictures instead of just a quick video....

If Lexus replaces the oil cooler lines, they will replace rubber, with, wait for it, newer rubber, believe it or not. Order a metal line part. Lots of options, search this forum for metal replacement.

I will give the dealership the benefit of the doubt here, so I just ordered the metal lines.

Not too happy as this could have been a lot worse.

Work is not to happy that I dumped about 2 quarts of oil in the parking garage either...

Probably a misunderstanding, they may have read that campaign 9LH for the VVT-i oil hose was completed. That hose is located on the rear bank of the engine.

This is the bulletin for the oil cooler hose failure: SB-10057003-9147.pdf

Oil cooler pipe part number is 04004-29131.

This^^^ The oem rubber hoses as well as the replacement rubber hoses. Replace them w/ metal lines, I used the dorman kit. I also replaced the vvt rubber spliced metal line on bank one w/ a '12+ oem metal line.......

had to buy the part here for $150 vs $40 from Amazon due to delivery time.

Ridiculous but seems to be running fine for now.....so just waiting for the next problem

With parts, labor, taxis and car rental...about $600 because i trusted the dealership to be competent.

Not impressed at all
