Default Parking brake hardware

Hello,

Did any one replaced the parking brake hardware, specifically the pins on an AWD?

Got my rx350 2009 awd without the parking brake installed. I guess the old owner had it stuck and decided to just remove the parking brake. I dont like relying on the transmission parking pawl lock and want to put the parking shoes back for some time now, and I wonder if I need to remove the wheel bearing hub to be able to have the pins in from behind, especially the one shaped like a U. This will make the job not as easy as I like it to be since I'll have to basically do a wheel bearing job + a parking brake job.

Thanks

The only time I use my parking brake is when jacking up my car otherwise it is never engaged

you just put it to park even when you park on a hill? I think too much pressure on the parking pawl can damage it, but I've never heard of one fail.

Yes, just put it in park even on a hill, I've never heard of any car breaking/rolling. I've found many times where I've forgetten to disengage the parking brake for a little bit but never heard of a failure so the only time parking brake is used is when jackng up my car

Removing the rotor will show you. You shouldn't need to remove the hub to install/replace the parking shoes as they sit on the outside of the hub & on the backing plate. I'm one that wants a parking brake whether it is parking shoes or caliper activation.....

I found mine with not hardware, so I can't just change the shoes. I did try to get the U shaped pin when I installed rotors but I couldn't get it from behind, unless there is a special technique, my guess is I need to take the hub out.... Unless someone already got the job done and can share the technique to get U pin completely inside.
