Default Replace Annoying Rear Pillar Clips with Metal

If anyone has installed a rear dash camera or reverse camera on their 04-09 RX, they know how annoying these junky plastic clips are that hold the left and right rear pillar trim pieces onto the rear hatch. Whether you're removing these pieces or putting them back on, the clips LOVE to either break or just fold and shoot through the hole they're clipped in - only to be found a month later after pulling out the lower body plug when the hatch door is open. The worst part is they're plastic so you can't even use a magnet to grab them when they're stuck in limbo. Well, I have found a solution which works beautifully!

The answer: x6 90468-05060 vs 90467-09204 for the plastic ones (The metal ones are cheaper too!)

Left: Plastic, Right: Metal

Perfect fit!

90468-05060 is pure evil I prefer plastic even if it breaks. The metal ones like to break trim pieces.

I hate 90468-05060 too, they scratch the paint and are tough to get out. I like to loosen them a little with pliers so they don't have a death grip. For some reason on this gen of RX though, the hole is so large that it seems the plastic ones always fall through after trying to snap the piece back in. Maybe one day I'll find a better piece than both of these.

Metal ones are great if you never plan on removing the trim piece again. But those buggers have a death grip, it helps a bit to use some silicone grease. You're right there is no good solution.

Thanks for the idea of silicone grease! I've used it for other metal-to-metal contact before but not with trim clips! I'll be sure to try that out next time
