Rx 330 hard shifting
Hey guys and girls,
I guess I'm searching for some advice. I recently bought a 2006 Lexus Rx 330 and shortly here after the check engine light and the VSC or VCS light came on. I ran the code and it came back small vacuum leak check gas cap... So I replaced the gas cap and then began seaging and replacing nbad vacuum lines but still the lights come back on. I also feel like sometimes the transmission shifts harder then it should and sometimes it feels like it might have an issue with downshifting or there might b an issue with the over drive/passing gear..like I have to floor it to make it downshift on the hi way. Someone had suggested to change the transmission filter but the vehicle has just over 200k miles on it and I don't know if he transmission has ever been serviced.. I tried to check the fluid twice once with a second set of eyes with me and we both concluded there mgt actually be too much fluid in it.. I really no sure what I should do.

Two separate issues.
1) For hard shifting, at 200K I would drain the trans fluid, fill, drive it 5 miles using all the gears, then repeat 2 more times. I.e., 3 times drain and fill, DO NOT flush it.
2) P0456 small evap leak, can be hard to track down. Good news it won't hurt anything while you're looking, but the CEL is annoying and may mask a serious problem. Suspects are many, smoke test needed likely. Could be the big lock ring and seal on the fuel pump itself, and any of the other components, connections. Lots of info on web to track it down.

This X 2^^^^^^^ I'd also change the filter as well as clean the two pan magnets......
