Default No Center Console Power When in Gear

Hi Everyone,
I'm having an intermittent issue with my center console (about 25% of the time) with my RX400h. When I turn the car on, everything turns on like normal. But when I shift into any gear, the whole center console loses power. If I move the shifter even slightly out of its resting park position, the Nav screen, clock, radio and lighted buttons all turn off. The HVAC operates at whatever the previous setting was. If I shift back into park, everything turns on again. Back into gear and everything turns off. If I continue driving, everything eventually starts working again a few miles down the road.

I've checked every fuse in the car. All are good. It seems to be isolated to the fuse No. 77 - RADIO NO. 2 circuit (Instrument cluster lights, instrument panel lights, navigation system, audio system). This is the one fuse the turns off all the same items when pulled.

I posted a video on YouTube showing the issue. https://youtube.com/shorts/Y5WYNdC-YsI

I've searched for hours and couldn't find anything directly related. I haven't recently replaced the 12V battery to require an ISC relearn procedure, but I did that anyway to no avail.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to Club Lexus and your first Post! 🚜

Hopefully someone has seen this before.

If not we will have to pull the electrical diagrams and start digging in.

This is strange. This could be the shift lever pulling on a wire harness in the console. Maybe a connector is not locked together and pulling apart or maybe a wire is broken. Take the shifter trim plate off and look for something like this.

I am planning to dig into the shifter console area and look for damaged wires/connectors today but I'm thinking it's related to a control module or command when it is taken out of park. When the problem is occurring, if I even slightly tap the shift lever away from Park position, about 1/4", just enough to disengage the park position switch/sensor, everything shuts off until a few miles down the road. The timing of when it returns to normal varies. Below is another video showing how little I move the shifter.

I'm finally getting back to this and have a couple updates:

1) I removed all trim panes and dug as far into the shifter as possible. It doesn't seem possible that there could be a worn or loose wire. The shift mechanism is a large block and all moving components are internal. There is one 5-wire harness on the exterior of the shifter block. There are no moving components near the harness and the wires are encased in a nice wire loom before it junctions into a much larger wire loom under the radio. Pictures attached.

2) When I move the shifter about 1/4" out of the park position as demonstrated in this YouTube video https://youtube.com/shorts/EaIuf2EezlI, I can hear a little switch click in the shifter block. When the console lights go out, I can also hear a relay click in the dash under/behind steering wheel or in front of my knees simultaneous with the switch click in the shifter block. If the console lights DO NOT go out when shifting out of park, there is no relay click noise behind the steering wheel.

I'm thinking there's a relay or control module problem that is connected to the shift mechanism. Does anyone have access to a wiring diagram for this system?

Thank you

Bump to the top. Does anyone have access to wiring diagrams? I'm thinking it's a relay or module within the circuit for fuse 77 that dies every time I shift out of park.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
