Default Center Console not working

here is my problem

I notice a couple of months ago that my center console would shut off. Now what I notice is this

If my center console is "acting up" and I turn the key " not starting the car" but turning the key enough that the radio and AC and clock should turn on "they don't" but the rest of the electronic compnets work fine...now I assume that my battery should kick in at this point, since the car is not started can I assume that this problem is not my altenator?

I beleive this problem could be a bad ground, because this seem to start happening after I had an aftermarket radio put in. also one more thing

if I turn the car on and the center console is working ie "AC and clock" once I turn the radio on everything starts to mess up.....even if I turn the ac off the radio still fails to function properly...

First off...welcome to CL. I would say you need to check a fuse, but which one I dont know, there are a few fuses that run the AC/Clock/Radio. If you look in the owners manual it will show you where the fuse box is and which fuses control what.

Get some jumper cables and run from the negative terminal of the battery to the motor mount. Turn the key again and see if you now have enough 'juice' to get the console to work.

right now the center console is working fine, but tomorrow when I come out it may not be working.....I checked the fuses and they seem fine....also I replaced my battery and the problem is still the same....I don't know if this matters but my car today just started having another problem.....My gear shifter is locked, I can use the override button and it will work but once placed back in park it will not shift out of park.....

You are not getting enough energy. There is an electric gear shift lock.

Default same thing happened to me

the SAME THING happened to me a few weeks ago, and the funniest thing, there was a penny that had become lodged in my Cigarette lighter, it was making a current that blew two different fuses, so check your fuses, and your lighter, haha

Ok so my problem is center console, which is A/C, clock, and radio..and now my shifter has started to act up...since all of these things are controlled by power/electric could this possibly an altenator problem???...Quick note my radio is aftermarket.....My radio has some power, the face will flip open but will not play....

Does the dash still work? It almost sounds like you blew the master link fuse. If you go under the hood there is a blue fuse in the upper left hand corner with a clear window in it. It should say 100Amp. Check and see if the copper inside is still one piece. You cannot remove that fuse without further instructions. It involves removing the entire fuse box and unbolting it from the bottom.

yea... Kaiser pretty much got it you have a fuse blow out somewhere double check... brake lights not working wont shift...if I were you go back to the idiot who installed your radio... unless it was you then in that case kick yourself in the *** and figure out what wires you hooked up wrong

Ok I have been having this stupid problem for almost a year now. You know my dash would be working fine until it's the coldest morning and bang no dash no heat......and when it's the hotest day of summer bam no dash no A/C...since I have no radio power I have driven in silence for almost 12 months......Then this crap with the shifter not shifting out of park unless I use the override button......yesterday I am driving down the street and a guy says hey you have no brake lights.....got damn it, I started to think, I have almost never had a problem with my GS since I got it....I started to fear that I needed to have the car rewired or something......... then I started pulling fuses from under the dash they all look right......then I turned over this fuse....it was a 20amp the connector was all burned up....could this be it, I mean I thought this would atleast fix my shifting and brake light problem.....installed the new fuse "BAM" all my problems fixed....center console works, shifter shifts and brake lights brake.......thanks for all the help from this forum!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
