Hi everyone, was curious to know about these valve solenoids. Is this, generally...a part that either works or doesn't, or can it slowly (with time), start to malfunction?
i have a 2009 rx350. I change the fluid usually every 5000 km.
what are some signs that it's starting to fail?
are there 2 valves on this engine? I think there is a screen filter too?

Either works or it doesn't it seems. I pulled mine (220k miles never removed) and cleaned it and replaced the screen at the same time. The screen was a lot dirtier than the VVT-i solenoid itself from the previous abuse and extended oil change intervals the car saw. There's one of each per valve cover.
