So I just got an RX300 and it has a VIPER keyless ignition installed, which works as intended, but there's also a microphone mounted right by the rear view mirror, which appears to be routed through through the roof... Far as I know this car shouldn't have bluetooth unless it's aftermarket, but I'm not sure. I do not have a navigation system. See attached image.
Can anyone advise me on exactly what this is for? If I turn on bluetooth on my phone, I see nothing to pair to. I did have an aftermarket bluetooth kit in my last car and the mic looked almost exactly like this, except there was a motorola button that I had to install on the dash. There is no such button here. If this IS an aftermarket bluetooth kit, anyone know what kind by looking at the mic? Or did this car strangely come with a microphone hooked up to nothing..?
Check for the other dangling end ... Most likely run down the driver side A pillar exiting by the fuse box and moslikely tucked all the way to the center console.
Thanks for confirming. I did look under the driver side dash and don't see anything that would be related to this, but I have not checked behind the center console. Weird thing too, is that if I pull on the mic a little bit, the wire seems to be leading to the PASSENGER side, even though the mic itself is mounted on the driver side. I don't wanna yank it out if the rest of the kit is still in the car (in which case I'd use it). Anyway, thanks again!

I have a Grom by my glovebox. I ran the microphone wire up the passenger side pillar.
The wire is just tucked behind the headliner all the way to the pillar. Don't be afraid to pull it out, you can easily tuck it back in.
The pillar is easy to pop off/on too
