Can't decide what to do
The fact that it's been painted, and it is no longer original, PLUS all the things wrong with it, I'd definitely sell it.
The work involved in getting it back up to snuff would probably be more than the cost of a nice clean ORIGINAL RX 300, since it seems like you can find nice ones for less than 5 grand. I got ours for 4500 and she's super clean and all original.
This does not sound like a vehicle I would put the effort into.
Best of luck in your decisions.

Now I just gotta fix a massive air leak, a year or two ago I had a p0440? evap leak, it was the "overflow check valve" on top of the gas tank, I thought it was a bright idea to change all the little hoses while i was in there, didnt realize you needed Gas rated hoses for that... . geeze well I'm learnin lol.

Ok so another update, the "fix" ive done has cured the light, I have OD again and car runs pretty good, but its still "knocking" or sounds like it is, could something besides the knock sensor be causing it to knock?
Salim
When the knock sensor go(es) bad, the sensor sends out incorrect signal. When the sensor is working, it sends correct signal to ECU to manage ignition timing within limits. You can have actual knock if the timing is incorrect, carbon buildup, low coolant level, bad gas etc. You could also be hearing something rattling.

I think you have diagnosed the problem .. or atleast one sub-system --> Exhaust.
Don't overdo this, but you can momentarily put a rag in the exhaust outlet and see if you can spot leaks.
I had a crack in the first cat and it was hardly visible. When I disconnected it, it came out in two pieces. Solution was easy enough --> weld it back. When I took it to the welder, he could not help laughing as I had put alignment marks while there was no way to twist it.
